Demihuman Armies

Demihuman Armies is an army set for use with Warlords II for Macintosh. It has as its theme the demihuman races typical of popular fantasy games - some army types were obviously inspired by creatures/monsters from Certain Other Gaming Systems. The artwork was mostly patched together from the art in Default and Spectremia Armies, and includes some interesting hybrids.

This army set has many low strength creatures, as each major demihuman race has representative light and heavy infantry types. There are many armies with terrain bonuses appropriate for their race. For instance, elves are enhanced in the forest, and dwarves in the hills. There is also a paucity of powerful creatures, especially ones with a special bonus (that is, allies).

I have tested this army set thoroughly and believe it is well balanced. Overall, the armies are about the same cost as the Default Armies, and a little faster. There are more weak creatures and also more specialized ones.

One note: unless you play a random map where cities can produce allies, or build your own scenario, you will never see Sphinxes or Manticores. This is, to the best of my knowledge, because these creatures do not have special bonuses and also cannot be retooled. Unfortunately, there is no more room in the set for retoolable armies.

This army set was created entirely with ResEdit, GraphicConverter, and War Correspondent. It may be distributed freely, so long as this file is included without alteration. Please e-mail me with comments or suggestions - I hope to make some more armies soon.

Many thanks to Matthew Hills for his excellent army editor, and to SSG for making the best computer strategy game ever. Let the war begin!
