The following is fairly lengthy and I know how thrilling it is to read a
scenario's creator babble on about their scenario. However, it will attempt
to explain some of the conflicting concepts that can be found in this
scenario (such as, just who are those priests hanging out in the middle of a
dinosaur infested valley?). With a liberal stretch of your imagination,
hopefully some of them will have some semblence of credibility.
     So without further ado...

-STORYLINE-
For millions of years dinosaurs reigned supreme throughout the world.
Then, 65 million years ago, the Earth was struck by a giant meteor, causing
cataclysmic destruction and massive extinction. The dinosaurs were almost
completely eradicated by the drastic environmental changes that occurred.
In one remote pocket of the world, however, dinosaurs did manage to
survive. Through an unexplained phenomenon one volcanic region of the
Earth remained untouched by the chaos that followed the meteor's impact.
Here gathered the last of the great dinosaur clans in relative tranquility
as the world around them was being ravaged.
Always thought to be slow-witted and dumb creatures, dinosaurs were in
fact extremely intelligent animals capable of thought, emotions, and the
ability to form structured clans, even between different species. These
clans were joined under the rule of one clan leader.
Seeing the destruction of their lands, the last of these great leaders
moved their clans, prey and predator alike, into the safety of the hidden
valley. The various clans found their own niches in the valley, some living
amid the grand volcanic peaks, others in the unforgiving marshes along the
valley floor. Unable to support such a mass of creatures, the valley's food
supply soon ran low. From this shortage was spawned the great wars between
the last of the dinosaur clans.
You are the leader of one of these mighty clans in the days following
the meteor's strike. Entering the valley, you have established your home
nest and now must go forth in search of prey. Soon however, you will
encounter other clans who have also fled to the valley. Over time, the prey
will disappear and you will be forced to feed upon one another. From the
bloodshed that ensues only one clan will emerge victorious, having hunted its
enemies into extinction.
It is thought that in time this clan also became extinct, forced into
feasting upon its own members for survival.
Perhaps it did, disappearing with the rest of its kind, leaving nothing
but fossils and ancient remains to tell us the epic story of its great reign.
Perhaps, however, it did survive, content to stay in the comfort and
safety of this undiscovered valley and somewhere in a remote, unexplored
corner of the world these great kings of the Earth still roam free, each day
continuing the unending struggle for survival...

The explanations of conflicting concepts:

-RUINS-
Despite the graphic showing otherwise, ruins are nothing more than a
chance encounter the pack leader has with other wandering dinosaurs. From
the battle that ensues (if the leader survives) he or she gains a learned
ability, most likely the one that gave them the edge for victory. Items are
these learned abilities and in some cases spoils from the defeated dinosaur's
nest.

-TEMPLES-
Temples are not holy cathedrals nor are they actually in one set
location (although they will be on the map). Rather they are the concept of
a dominant dinosaur living outside the clan. When a pack leader recieves a
"quest" from a "temple" it is the seasonal challenge by these outside rivals
attempting to take control of the leader's pack. In order to maintain
control, the current leader must prove itself worth by accomplishing a feat
such as killing an enemy or destroying one of their nests. Each "quest"
recieved can be seen as the beginning of a new season where the pack leader
is again forced to prove itself worthy of its position in the clan.
When regular dinosaurs are "blessed" they are forming a bond with one or
more of these roaming dinosaurs. Even though it fails to lure them into its
own pack, just their association with it will increase their power in the
eyes of their enemies.

-GOLD-
Gold is the measure of influence you (the clan leader) have over your
clan. With each new nest you acquire, the strength of your power grows,
thus increasing your influence.
When a "hero" (pack leader) is "purchased" it brings an outside pack
leader into the clan. This causes extreme conflicts of loyalties within the
clan as the various pack leaders battle for position. Your influence will
therefore drop until order can once again be slowly reestablished. Likewise
bringing an outside species (buying production) into a nest will cause this
same upheaval.
Gold found in ruins or looted from enemy nests is the influence gained
from defeating a powerful enemy.

-HEROES-
Heroes are the various pack leaders. While you are the sole leader of
the clan, these are the dominant males and females who lead the hunting
parties against your enemies. Be wary though, for with each new pack leader
you bring into your clan, while their individual power increases the clan's
power, their ultimate instinctual goal is to take your place as clan leader.
Most likely this will be accomplished by defeating you in combat and
feasting on the bloody remains of your still warm carcass.

Well, hopefully that helps to explain some of the major conflicting
ideas. I hope you enjoy the scenario and as always I really appreciate any
comments, suggestions, and/or thoughts for improving it. Please send them
